An Alabama state trooper suffered minor injuries late Wednesday night after a motorist struck his marked patrol vehicle on Ross Clark Circle.
According to a statement from Trooper Kevin Cook, troopers arrested Octavio Avial Vargas, 21, of Dallas, and charged him with driving under the influence after the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving struck the marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria state trooper vehicle sitting at the seven mile marker of Ross Clark Circle.
Cook’s statement also said the state trooper also had his blue light on his vehicle activated while he worked a construction zone at the time of the crash. The trooper was treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries.
Vargas was booked into the Houston County Jail on the DUI charge.
No further information was available to be released, but state troopers will continue to investigate the circumstances around the crash.
