Books-A-Million will remain an option for Dothan book buyers despite the demolition occuring around it.
While much of the old Northside Mall has already been demolished to make way for Publix and Hobby Lobby, the book retailer will remain and won’t even undergo a temporary shutdown while construction is ongoing, according to project developer John Hogue.
“Books-A-Million is staying in the shopping center,” Hogue said. “They're staying right where they are, and they’re going to be part of the redeveloped and renovated project.”
Books-A-Million, which made Forbes’ list of the top 200 small companies in 2009, is a retail chain dedicated to books, magazines and related items.
According to Hogue, the Northside project is progressing smoothly.
“It’s coming along great,” he said. “There have been no snags. Everything's moving along according to plan.”
Publix is expected to open in May, with Hobby Lobby opening around the same time.
