U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright, D-Montgomery, said recent changes to health care reform proposals have not changed his decision to vote against the legislation.
"I remain a firm no on the proposed health care plan that may be voted on in the next several weeks. I simply believe we cannot afford the massive cost associated with these proposals, especially while our fragile economy continues to recover," Bright said in a written statement.
“Additionally, it has become abundantly clear that the American people -- and especially those in my district -- have rejected the health care proposals being considered in the House and Senate, or proposed by the White House. The House took a good step by recently voting to remove the antitrust exemption for the health care industry, which earned overwhelming support from members of both parties. We should continue to pass targeted, incremental, and bipartisan health care reform measures. Only then will Congress begin to earn the trust of the American people,” Bright said.
