A Coffee Springs man faces a possible life sentence in prison after he pleaded guilty in Geneva County to rape, sodomy and child pornography charges.
Assistant Geneva County District Attorney Stephen Smith said Quintin Leon Stokes, 50, pleaded guilty earlier this week to the charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, porn production with minors and porn possession with intent to distribute.
Stokes entered what Smith referred to as a “blind” guilty plea, which means there was no agreement made between the prosecution and Stokes’ defense lawyer, Tommy Scarborough, as to what sentence he should receive from the court. Stokes will be sentenced by Circuit Court Judge P.B. McLauchlin at a later, undetermined date.
Stokes faces 10 to 99 years or life in prison for the rape and sodomy charges, both class A felony crimes. Smith said Stokes also faces a similar sentence for one of the child pornography charges, and one to 10 years in prison for the other charge, a class C felony.
The child pornography charges stemmed from an analysis of evidence recovered from Stokes’ home computer. Authorities arrested Stokes last year in Pensacola, Fla., and eventually brought him back to the Geneva County Jail after he refused extradition.
Court records show the child pornography crimes were committed on Christmas Day in 2006. Records show he will remain held in the Geneva County Jail on a $100,000 bond until his sentencing hearing.
