Car wreck leads to power outage on South Park Avenue

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A vehicle collided with a utility pole late Saturday night, leaving a portion of South Park Avenue without power.

The single-car wreck occurred about 10 p.m. near the intersection of South Park Avenue and Ross Clark Circle, and the pole was on top of the vehicle when rescue workers arrived.

"Until we could ensure the power was out, we didn’t want anyone coming close. That’s biggest delay right now," said Pete Webb, Dothan Fire battalion chief.

The vehicle's driver was transported to a local hospital, but he was awake and alert.

The power outage isn't affecting Ross Clark Circle and is limited to what Webb called a small portion of Park Avenue.

Webb said he isn't sure how long the outage will last. "Dothan Utilities is on scene, and I imagine the power will be turned back on as soon as they get the lines back up."
