»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Dothan man on probation for shooting someone now faces a new criminal charge after police caught him “shooting dice.”

According to Dothan Police Cpl. Rachel David, police charged Jeremy Shanta Jones, 23, of West Powell Street, with misdemeanor simple gambling after they caught him and three other men “shooting dice on the front porch of a vacant apartment in the 400 block of Blackshear Street.”
David said the men were caught “openly exchanging cash” as they played dice.

Court records show police charged Jones with felony second-degree assault for using a handgun to shoot another person on Oct. 6, 2007. Records show Jones received five years probation on a 10-year sentence earlier this year after he pleaded guilty to felony second-degree assault.

The two other men charged with illegally gambling were Herman Britt Jr., 32, of South Appletree Street, and Charles Tyrone Thomas, 23, of Ruth Street.
