»  Comments | Post a Comment

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday claimed the life of a 26-year-old Brundidge woman.

According to a statement from Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook, troopers are investigating a crash that happened around 4:40 p.m. on Coffee County Road 114 that left Merilyn Elizabeth Boyd dead.

The statement said the crash happened as Boyd lost control of the 2011 Dodge Intrepid she was driving and ran off the roadway. When Boyd attempted to bring her car back on the roadway she over-corrected and traveled across the roadway striking a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Thomas Lavender. Lavender, 35, also of Brundidge, was treated and released at the scene of the crash.

The statement said Boyd was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation by state troopers.
