DOT worker injured in accident dies

A DOT worker injured when he was struck by a car on Dec. 14 has died of injuries sustained in the accident.

Hobi Wade Hussey, 21, of Elba, died Monday at 2:20 p.m. at the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety. Hussey was working as a flagman on U.S. 29 in Pike County on Dec. 14 when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle is Camden Stephens, 19, of Luverne. 

Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Steve Jarrett said the Alabama Department of Public Safety has opened a traffic homicide investigation into the accident. A toxicology report on Stephens is pending. Jarrett said the department would forward the results of the investigation to the Pike County District Attorney when it is complete. Jarrett said the investigation would likely be complete within 45 days.
