Enterprise man charged with arson at florist

»  Comments | Post a Comment

An Enterprise man faces multiple felony charges after police say he set some floral delivery vans on fire in an effort to cover up some vehicle break-ins.

According to jail records, police charged Denius Zachery Donald, 32, with three counts of second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree theft of property and two counts of unlawful breaking and entering.

Enterprise Police Sgt. Chris Peterson said in a police statement that the charges stemmed from a police response Monday to a vehicle fire at the Montgomery Wholesale Florist on Geneva Highway around 11:25 p.m. When police arrived they saw a white refrigerated van crash through a locked gate at the florist. The statement said the police pursued the vehicle and captured the driver in the 600 block of West Lee Street.

Peterson said police charged Donald with breaking into at least one delivery vehicle and setting it on fire to cover up the crime. He said more charges could be pending in the ongoing investigation.
