A 54-year-old woman from Black who died in a mobile home fire on Monday morning has been identified.

Patricia Ann Gibson is the woman who died in the fire, according to Geneva County Coroner Max Motley.

Geneva County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Helms said fire fighters from the Geneva and Black volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at a mobile home on Reed Patch Road, about seven miles off of Alabama Highway 52.

Gibson was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. on Monday by Motley.

"Honestly, I believe smoke inhalation got her," Motley said.

Motley said the victim's husband had left the mobile home on Monday morning to make sure his grandchildren had gotten on the school bus, and when he returned the home was on fire.

Investigators from the state fire marshal's office will be looking into the cause of the fire.
