OZARK — With a combination of more events, more vendors and cooler weather, Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce officials are hoping for a large turnout Saturday to the city’s 41st Claybank Jamboree Arts and Craft Festival.
“We’re excited. The jamboree is something that means so much to this community and offers exposure to a variety of different businesses throughout the area,” Chamber Executive Director Tanya Roberts said.
Some downtown streets will be closed Saturday from about 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as bands, vendors and artwork line the area’s streets. The Silver Wings 98th Army Band of Fort Rucker is expected to perform along with several others, including the Carroll High School Band, The Eastwood Drive Band and Cross Creek.
In addition to music performances on the main stage downtown, live music is also expected at The Potting Shed on South East Avenue.
Kids events are expected to include rock-climbing and kiddie-rides.
“There’s a lot of traditional things taking place, like the quilt exhibit at the First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center,” chamber official Rosmarie Williamson said. “There will also be demonstrations, a magic show and displays by The Car Club of Ozark.”
The festival ends Sunday with a 2 p.m. ceremony at the historic Claybank Church on Andrews Avenue. The jamboree is named in honor of the church.
