Editorial: Support 'Alabama Gives'

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Non-profit organizations across Alabama hope that a concerted effort to reach potential contributors – and make donation easier for them -- will yield the results realized in other states.

It’s called Alabama Gives Day, highlighting the organizations that help improve the quality of life in our state. For 24 hours beginning tonight at midnight, those who want to make monetary contributions to non-profit organizations in our state can log on to one web site and make a secure donation.

It’s a proven formula; just this year Colorado non-profits raised $12 million, while Minnesota residents gave more than $13 million – both in similar one-day events.

Alabamians should take time to understand the value of our state’s non-profit organizations and consider whether they can afford to provide a small donation to help keep those groups in operation.

If the spirit of philanthropy strikes you, visit http://algives.razoo.com and choose a non-profit you want to support.
