In my opinion and based on numerous analyses and commentary in dozens of newspapers, news magazines, Internet blogs and the pronouncements by several influential political figures, there is no possible way that Newt Gingrich can ever win the presidency regardless of how many primary elections he wins. The most he can do is continue to fragment the vote of the Republican Party and most other Americans that are sick and tired of the performance of Barack Obama.
With approval ratings in the mid to upper 40 (and temporarily slightly over 50) percent, one would think that Obama doesn’t have a snowball’s chance of winning another term in November. But the voters should not be complacent or continue to be ignorant of what is happening all around us.
There will always be a core group of voters that will back Newt Gingrich and it appears that there is a group of voters that somehow believe that Mitt Romney’s Mormonism is a disqualifier on its face. Both groups are wrong.
There can be no doubt that Gingrich has manipulated and leveraged his influence in the House of Representatives to his own personal advantage. His association with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are ample evidence of this behavior. He has been forced to resign from Congress because of dubious behavior. I remain completely amazed that he has not been formally charged with a crime.
There are so many things in his background that should disqualify him for any political position now or in the future and it is incredible that he has become such a factor in this race. The people of the Wiregrass should take the time to do some very basic research on the internet to educate themselves about Gingrich’s behavior over the past 25 years or so.
My recommendation is for everyone who is at all interested in the future of this country to do some very basic research into the qualifications and background of each candidate and to make an informed decision based on their findings. My wish is for God to bless this country and the voters in it during this trying time we are facing.
