A Houston County jury has found a Dothan man guilty of trafficking $30,000 worth of cocaine.
Assistant Houston County District Attorney Patrick Amason said the jury found 27-year-old Kenneth Earl Floyd Jr. guilty Wednesday of felony trafficking cocaine, felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor charges, which included possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Floyd was one of three people arrested by Dothan police in July 2010 as part of the drug investigation.
Amason said Houston County Sheriff’s deputies took Floyd into custody after Circuit Court Judge Michael Conaway revoked his bail pending his sentencing hearing, which will be next month.
Dothan Police Maj. Steve Parrish released information after the arrests about how a joint inquiry with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office led them to believe two brothers, Bobby Lane and Steven Lane, along with Floyd, ran a drug trafficking business out of a home in the 400 block of East Lafayette Street.
“This was a pretty decent sized drug enterprise going on in this house,” Amason said.
Police charged Floyd with trafficking about 22 ounces of cocaine, which police said had an estimated value of about $30,000. Police also seized 341 ecstasy pills when the arrests were make at the home. The jury found Floyd guilty of unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the ecstasy pills.
Police also seized $7,500 in cash.
According to an earlier Dothan Eagle report, police also seized five handguns and four rifles. Those include a .20-gauge shotgun, a .12-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle, an AK-47 rifle, a .22-caliber pistol, two 9 mm handguns, a .25-caliber handgun and a .32-caliber pistol. Police also seized a stun gun.
Bobby Lane already pleaded guilty to his charges for his involvement, which included drug trafficking. Lane received a 25-year prison sentence last year for the trafficking cocaine offense.
Steven Lane was up for trial this week, but it went unreached.
