An Enterprise man faces multiple attempted murder charges after authorities say he allegedly fired a gun at several police, striking two of their vehicles.
According to a statement from Enterprise Police Detective Sgt. Steve Russell, police arrested 32-year-old Rocky J. Beasley Monday night and charged him with three felony counts of attempted murder.
The statement said the charges stemmed from a police response to a domestic dispute at a home on Coffee County Road 270 around 7 p.m.
According to the statement the following happened during the shooting: when officers arrived at the residence the victim told them Beasley was armed with a rifle, and hiding in the woods behind the home.
Officers at first heard a single gunshot from behind the home, and as they took cover Beasley allegedly fired numerous other shots as he moved from point to point to cover himself behind the home. When officers attempted to locate Beasley he appeared in the open and turned himself in to police.
During the crime scene investigation police found two police cars were struck by bullets during the shooting.
Officers never returned fire due to an inability to determine Beasley’s location.
Beasley was taken to the Coffee County Jail.
