Filmore was born in Florence, Ala., and received his undergraduate degree from Troy State University, Troy and his law degree and masters of law degree from the University of Alabama.
As an attorney, Filmore served as the prosecutor for the City of Daleville for more than 10 years.
Filmore also served as president of the Dale County Bar Association from 1990-1992. Filmore serves as an adjunct instructor in the Criminal Justice Program at Faulkner University and an adjunct instructor in the School of Business at Troy University, Troy.
Filmore is an active member of the Daleville Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for more than 28 years. Filmore currently serves as Sunday school director, deacon, trustee, and usher.
Filmore is the vice-chairman of the Dale County Republican Party and on the State Executive Committee from Dale County. Filmore was named the 2003 Man of the Year in Daleville. He is also the current president of Dale County Sav-a-Life.
