Authorities are looking into the circumstances around how a house fire started in Geneva County Wednesday.

Geneva County Sheriff’s Investigator Cpl. Eugene Campbell said authorities responded to a mobile home fire on Cohen Road in Malvern, about a mile off Alabama Highway 52, around 3:15 p.m.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire.

Campbell said the fire likely destroyed the home. Campbell said investigators, who are assisted by the state Fire Marshals Office, suspect arson in the fire. He said the cause remains under investigation.
