»  Comments | Post a Comment

A body found in woods off Sutton Dairy Road near Ariton in Barbour County late Tuesday afternoon could be that of a missing Clio man.

Barbour County Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw said the body has not been identified and will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences lab in Montgomery for autopsy and collection of evidence.

Willie David Pugh, 27, had not been seen or heard from since 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 14, according to an earlier statement from the sheriff.

Authorities suspected foul play in the disappearance. The statement said Pugh’s vehicle was found near Ariton behind an abandoned residence.

Upshaw said the scene where the body was found is being processed by investigators.
