Authorities recently arrested three men on charges they failed to properly register as convicted sex offenders.
Court records indicate Houston County Sheriff’s investigators charged Robert James Perry, 25, of Alex Circle, with the failure to notify local law enforcement of his prior sexual assault conviction. Records indicate Perry was convicted in Gainesville, Fla., of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12. Records say Perry was taken to the Houston County Jail and held on a $250,000 bail.
Court records also indicate Dothan police charged 22-year-old Walter James Hamilton with the failure to properly register as a homeless sex offender. Records say Hamilton was charged with the failure to report in person, and provide a list of his locations for the upcoming week.
Hamilton was taken to the Houston County Jail and held on $15,000 bail.
According to the state Department of Public Safety’s website, Hamilton was convicted of second-degree rape of a 13-year-old girl in Houston County in 2010.
Records also indicate Dothan police charged Richard Allen Johnson, 46, of East Main Street, with a violation of the community notification act. Records say Johnson was charged with the failure to notify police of his employment at a Hop-In convenience store on Ross Clark Circle. Johnson was taken to the Houston County Jail and held on $2,500 bail.
According to the state Department of Public Safety’s website, Johnson was convicted of sex abuse of an 11-year-old girl in 1986 in Houston County.
