Jerry Smith

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Jurors voted unanimously Thursday afternoon to recommend the death penalty for a Dothan man who killed three people at a crack house in 1996.

Jerry Jerome Smith, 40, had previously been convicted of capital murder in the deaths of Willie James Flournoy, 40, of Dothan, Theresa Ann Helms, 26, of Wicksburg and David Lee Bennett, 29, of Midland City, and sentenced to death, but his death sentence was overturned twice. His case was in court again this week for resentencing.

The three victims were killed at a Sturgeon Court residence on Oct. 19, 1996. Police described it as a crack house.
