It says a great deal about the sort of officers we have at the Dothan Police Department when they will seek the help of outsiders in approaching particularly troublesome cases.
This week, Richard Walter of The Vidocq Society, a national crime assessment organization from Philadelphia, was in town to talk about the murder of Perry Griffin, who was killed in a robbery at the metal salvage yard he operated nearly five years ago. Walter’s organization, which boasts members with expertise in a wide range of disciplines from 12 countries around the world, has agreed to review the Griffin murder to seek new leads.
“We will do anything we can to solve this murder,” said Lt. Tony Luker, head of the department’s criminal investigation division. “Mr. Walter and the Vidocq Society are the top people in their field.”
It’s reassuring that our police department is willing to bring in fresh eyes rather than allow a case to languish. We hope the partnership yields new information that will bring the killer or killers to justice.
