A Dothan man, who was employed as a church minister, faces felony charges involving the electronic solicitation of a child after his recent arrest by authorities in Alexander City.
According to a statement from the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, investigators arrested 44-year-old William Lynn Cosby last week.
The statement said investigators charged Cosby with felony electronic solicitation of a child and felony transmitting obscene material to a child by computer. Cosby was taken to the Tallapoosa County Jail and held on $30,000 bail.
The charges were the result of a month-long investigation by the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s department regarding an internet crime.
The statement also said sheriff’s investigators and officers with the Alexander City Police Department arrested Cosby about 6:15 on Thursday.
The sheriff’s statement said at the time of Cosby’s arrest he was employed by Bethel Baptist Church in Dothan as the minister of education.
The statement also said the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s department was assisted by agents with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI), the Dothan Police Department and the Alexander City Police Department.
The investigation also remains ongoing.
