Defensive lineman Sidell Corley hasn't made up his mind on where he will transfer, but his father, Sidell, Sr., said that Troy had a commanding lead.
Previous reports had the younger Corley, who left LSU after two years, linked to Alabama, Auburn and Troy. Corley attended Troy's scrimmage over the weekend.
"He hasn't made up his mind and he has a few schools, but Troy's way, way on top right now," Corley Sr. said.
Troy began classes Wednesday and Corley has applied to the NCAA for a waiver that would allow him to play immediately without sitting out a year. The NCAA hasn't yet ruled on the waiver. Corley went to high school at McGill-Toolen in Mobile and signed with LSU in 2007. He redshirted his first year and played in just two games last year, recording two tackles. He was ranked as the fourth-best strongside defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com. He's listed at 6-foot-4 and 274 pounds.
"Everything's all right with Troy," Corley Sr. said. "They're doing everything they can to help out. He wants to make sure that when he makes the decision that it's the right one. He's only got 36 months left and those 36 might be the most important of his life. He figures he's wasted two years already."
