Prep roundup: Ashford Academy wins overtime thriller

LAFAYETTE — Ashford Academy stopped a two-point play in overtime to defeat Chambers Academy 56-55. Ian Allen kicked a 42-yard field goal to force overtime.

Danny Wagoner ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Jared Ingle and Preston Harris added two scores each. Raphael Truitt caught a TD pass.

David Ingram had eight solo tackles, two assists, a sack and a fumble recovery. Tyler Williams added four solos, four assists and two sacks. Tyler Daniels had six solo tackles, four assists and two sacks. Jared Ingle and Tyler Sharron each had four solos and four assists.

Geneva 27, Samson 12: Brandon Carter returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a score for Samson, but Geneva rallied for the win.

Quan Tolbert scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter and a 62-yard run in the third. Brad Horne hit Jo Jo Tolver with a 19-yard touchdown pass and Tavares McEntyre scored on a 3-yard run for the Panthers.

Andalusia 24, Opp 12: Round 1 went to Andalusia.
The annual rivalry game with an interesting twist went to the visitors, as Andalusia defeated Opp 24-12. The two teams will play again next Friday in the first round of the state playoffs.
Andalusia had touchdown runs by Deion Akins, Takayus Bullard and Marcus Jones. All three two-point conversions were successful.
Opp countered with a 25-yard TD pass from Gavin Free to Britt Wise and a 37-yard TD run by Josh Scarborough.
Andalusia outgained Opp 301-178.

Carroll 47, Abbeville 28: Delante Jackson ran for four touchdowns as Carroll (1-9) earned its first win of the season. Josh Richards added a fumble recovery for a touchdown, John Ross caught a TD pass and Lee Brascomb scored a touchdown run.

Elba 42, Zion Chapel 6: Michael Lindsey opened the scoring with a 70-yard punt return, and he scored on a 24-yard run. Sandarius Reed added a 38-yard TD run, Gunnar McCullough a 22-yard run, Carlos Matias a 19-yard run and Kendrick Robertson scored on a 54-yard run.
Richard Cooks was perfect on extra points, and Matias had 101 yards rushing on the night. Lindsey also added an interception to his night.

Brantley 22, Daleville 12: Brantley (9-1), the third-ranked Class 1A team opened up a 22-0 lead in the second quarter and held on to beat the Tigers (7-3).
Daleville scored on the final play of the first half on a 60-yard TD pass from A.J. Jones to Chris Stone. Stone made a one-handed catch and broke a couple of tackles on the play.
Brandon Burks scored on a 41-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Collinsville 35, Florala 7: Zach Fleming scored Florala’s touchdown with a 5-yard run. Fleming was 4-of-11 for 42 passing yards and threw an interception. He also rushed 23 times for 74 yards, and Oswald added 10 carries for 64 yards.
AISA

Pike Liberal Arts 45, Autauga Academy 10: Nick McLaughlin ran for 99 yards and two scores, Trey Walters added two more and the Patriots rolled. Justin McLaughlin and Justin Strother also scored rushing touchdowns.
Daniel Powell also scored on a 29-yard interception return.
Tanner Grant led the defense with five tackles. Justin McLaughlin added four.

Dixie Academy 35, SMCA 14: Mack Williams ran for a touchdown and threw for three more in the win, as Dixie qualified for the playoffs. Williams ran for a 1-yard score, threw touchdown passes of 63 and 15 yards to Jordan Green and 30 yards to Dakota Hudson.
Eddie Martelli ran for 94 yards and returned a kickoff 88 yards for a score. Williams also recovered two fumbles.
Dixie plays at Patrician next week.

Coosa Valley 48, Abbeville Christian 8: Corey Owens scored ACA’s touchdown, and Shelby Watford caught a pass from Chip White for the two-point conversion.
Hank Walker and Owens led ACA in tackles.

GHSAA
Seminole County 32, Randolph-Clay 6:
Barren Rambo opened the scoring with a 15-yard run. Tamichael Fedd added a 5-yard score, and Antwan Buggs had a 2-yard TD run and threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Chris Brown.
Seminole County led 28-6 at halftime and scored two second-half safeties.

Early County 38, Mitchell County 14: Darius Mitchell ran for touchdowns of 11 and 5 yards and caught a 2-point conversion pass from T.J. Allen in the win for Early County (5-4, 3-3). J.J. McCray ran for a 6-yard score and Camery Flowers ran for a 3-yard score. LaDonis Bryant recovered a fumble in the end zone and Early County also got a safety.
Early County plays Cook next week for a playoff berth.

Port St. Joe 23, Marianna 22:
For Marianna, Trey Jackson ran for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Graceville 56, Rocky Bayou 12: No statistics were reported.

Chipley 28, Holmes County 21: No statistics were reported.
