Hot-shooting Wicksburg defeats Geneva County

WICKSBURG – Diquan Fenn scored 26 points and the Wicksburg Panthers turned their Senior Night into a shooting clinic with a 90-36 victory over Geneva County on Friday night.

Wicksburg (22-5) scored 24 points in the second quarter, after leading 10-9 after the first period. The Panthers then exploded for 56 points in the second half, 31 in the fourth quarter.

Davian Johnson scored 17 points. Austin Sellers had 13 points and seven rebounds. Trey McNeal added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Gabe Richards grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked seven shots.

Karon White led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

 

Varsity Boys

Rehobeth 99, Houston Academy 78: Lamarrius Mack scored 32 points, Josh Thompson added 27 and Drake Rogers had 22 as the Rebels ran past the Raiders.

Cory Perkins added 10 points for Rehobeth (13-13).

Chris Johnson scored a game-high 34 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out six assists for HA. Richard Howell added 25 points in the loss.

Headland 62, Slocomb 37: Dishon McKay scored 15 points to help the Rams earn their 20th victory of the season.

Yorey Collins added 10 points for Headland (20-7), which plays its final regular-season game tonight against Northview.

Antonio Davis scored nine points to lead Slocomb.

Daleville 56, Providence Christian 42: Jacques Coleman scored 16 points and Edward Christian, one of two Warhawk seniors honored in his last home game, added 12 as Daleville earned its 20th victory (20-5).

Justin Peak paced Providence with 21 points.

The Warhawks play their final regular season game at Geneva next week. Christian and Caleb Perry are Daleville’s two seniors.

Barbour County 67, Abbeville 26: Takwain Whigham scored 13 and Bryon Patrick 10 for the Jaguars. Calvin Spencer and Siran Neal scored six each for Abbeville.

Cottonwood 56, Dale County 50: Billy Lewis scored 19 and Damarius Key scored 11 to lead Cottonwood. James Crawford scored 25 for Dale County

Houston County 79, Ashford 59: Ernest Tyson led the Lions (19-6) with 31 points. Deion Moore scored 10.

For Ashford, Rafael Alvarado and Troy Griggs scored 18 each and Devon Gooden scored 15.

Geneva 69, Samson 67: Tavares McIntyre scored 13, including the game-winner at the buzzer. Marcus Wilson scored 20 and Austin Donaldson scored 11.

Phillip Coleman scored 23 and D.J. Hornsby 20 for Samson.

Carroll 47, Pike County 44: Jason Siples scored 13 points and Daniel Cunningham 11 as the Eagles (4-24) snapped a 17-game losing streak with the win.

Marlon Meadows led Pike County (5-21) with 15 points.

Ariton 66, Zion Chapel 17: Dionte Michel and Seth Senn scored 16 each for Ariton.

Elba 75, Florala 58: Jake Carnley scored 33 points on his Senior Night to help Elba improve to 15-6. Cobe Goosby and Harry Griffin added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Jonathan Burleson led Florala with 17 points. Colt Jackson added 14 for the Wildcats.

Brantley 79, Luverne 58: Terrance Bogans led Brantley with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jared Wiley scored 22 with 10 rebounds. Chester Person scored 14 with 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Pleasant Home 50, G.W. Long 48 (OT): Kaleb Powell and Jeffrey Slaughter scored 13 each for Pleasant Home. Stetson Payne scored 12, Elisha Burroughs 11 and Robert McKinnis 10 for Long.

Ashford Academy 72, Abbeville Christian 52: Alex Morris scored 42 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to help regional host Ashford Academy advance to the title game today.

Preston Still scored 12 points and added six rebounds for the Falcons, who play Crenshaw Christian in the region final at 4:30 p.m.

Chip White paced Abbeville Christian with 20 points.

Emmanuel Christian 87, Evangel Family Christian Academy 72: For Emmanuel, Cody Lewis scored 21 with 11 rebounds, John Michael Lankford scored 18 and Nolan Bauldree scored 14.

Restoration 48, Lakeside 44: Mack Goff scored 24 points and Brady Buchan grabbed 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the Chiefs.

On Thursday night, Goff, named to the all-region tournament team, scored nine points, but Evangel Christian defeated Lakeside 85-23.

 

Varsity Girls

Dothan 54, Charles Henderson 25: Cidavia Hall led the balanced Tigers with 12 points and four blocked shots. Quateria McKenzie and Hannah Winston scored 10 points each.

Providence Christian 62, Daleville 38: Elizabeth Dowd scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Eagles defeat the Warhawks.

Mary Palm added 19 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Brooke Segler scored 10 points and Lauren Hutto grabbed 10 rebounds for Providence.

Garry Richard led Daleville with 14 points.

Houston Academy 42, Rehobeth 34: Kellie McCaffery’s eight points leads the Raiders. Nichole Molton added seven points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Mallory Smith led Rehobeth with nine points.

Headland 34, Slocomb 20: Leigh Money scored 10 points and Desiree Taylor and Chelsie Nowell scored six points each.

Autumn Mathis led Slocomb with nine points.

Ashford 56, Houston County 23: Tanequa Dismuke scored 17 points and Crisshada Rogers added 13 to help the Yellow Jackets improve to 16-10.

Barbour County 57, Abbeville 54: Santania Young scored 24 and Jada White 13 for the Jaguars. Abbeville was led by April Sampson with 22 points, Keya Wiggins with 16 points and Shyanne Peterman with 15 points.

Geneva 72, Samson 63: Khandi Tolbert led Geneva (21-3) with 23 points. Shanice Townsend scored 13 and Kyia McNeal scored 10.

For Samson, Shaundre Hornsby scored 33 points, had six rebounds and five steals. Taylor McKnight added nine points.

Geneva County 59, Wicksburg 28: Lacy Stafford led Geneva County (17-4) with 27 points. All nine Bulldogs scored.

Dale County 48, Cottonwood 17: Khadaji Warren scored 22 points and Regan Castle added 19 for the Warriors.

Elba 54, Florala 34: Jacquetta Daniels scored 22 points to lead the Tigers (16-6). A.J. Whitfield added 12 points and Kei-Aune Edwards scored 11.

Mariah Thompson led Florala with 18 points.

Ariton 55, Zion Chapel 41: Samantha Bell scored 22, Nicole McInerney 12 and Emily Snider 10 for Ariton. Whitney Rugg scored 12 to lead Zion Chapel.

Brantley 55, Luverne 52: Ahmani Upshaw scored 15 with 15 rebounds and Raven Davis scored 15. Eisha Hamilton scored 12. For Luverne, Nikeya Person scored 16 and Tori Free scored 12.

Graceville 39, Cottondale 32: Graceville advanced to the finals of the Class 1A, District 3 tournament. Tiara Sorey scored 11 and Maz Broxton had 14 rebounds.

Pleasant Home 54, G.W. Long 33: Emily Byrd and Raven Woods scored 15 each for Pleasant Home. Caitlyn Watson led Long with nine points.

Carroll 46, Pike County 18: Kadaleus Gissendanner scored 13 to lead Carroll.

Ashford Academy 50, SMCA 21: In the AISA regional in Ashford, the host Falcons stormed into today’s championship game as Hannah Galle scored 17 points and had four steals.

Caroline McClenny and Jordan Sanderson added eight points each in the victory. Olivia Adams scored seven points and dished out nine assists for the Falcons, who play in the regional title game today against Abbeville Christian.

Abbeville Christian 43, Crenshaw Christian 35: Haylee Kirkland scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to send the Generals into the region title game today at 3 p.m. against host Ashford Academy.

Chelsey Smith added seven points for ACA.

Quilla Robinson led Crenshaw with 28 points.

Lakeside 36, Restoration 26: Jasonie Guice and Lexie Gibson each scored 10 points to lift the Chiefs to the victory.

Guice added eight rebounds and five steals. Kasey Grant, who made the all-tournament team, scored seven points and had 10 rebounds in the victory for Lakeside (26-5), which will play in the AISA Elite Eight next Thursday at Huntingdon College at 1:30 p.m.

Emmanuel Christian 78, EFCA 57: Jessica Wheeler scored 24 points, had nine assists and six rebounds and teammate Alexis Johnson-Clark scored 22 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for Emmanuel, which ended its regular season 11-11.

Casey Clements scored 13 points and Destinee Vickers added nine points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds. Emmanuel topped the 1,000-point plateau, finishing its regular season with 1,043 points.

Kylie Sutton scored 25 points to lead EFCA. Lauren Brendle added 11 points and Kendal Atkins chipped in 10.

 

JV Boys

Headland 35, Slocomb 14: Jimmy Spann led the Rams with eight points. Tyler Lawrence added six.

Abbeville 45, Barbour County 42: Ladarius Durr led Abbeville with 15 points. Christian Patterson led the Jaguars with 13 points.

Houston Academy 50, Rehobeth 47: Brett Gilmore scored 17 points and Kasawia Pittman added 12 for the Raiders.

Ladarrius Fields led Rehobeth with 16 points. Trey Truitt added 10.

In a Thursday night game, Pittman scored 13 points to help HA defeat Ariton 29-26 in overtime.

Marley McCauley led Ariton with nine points.

Geneva 51, Samson 43: Michael Smith scored 12 and Gavin Danley and Tyler Hill scored 11 each for Geneva. Durell Townsend scored 11 and Wendell Washington 10 for Samson.

Carroll 40, Pike County 28: Deric Patton had eight points to lead Carroll’s win.

Ariton 43, Zion Chapel 18: Blake Stevens scored 12 and Cody Wallace 10 for Ariton.

G.W. Long 36, Pleasant Home 25: Dewayne Whigham scored 11 to lead Long.

 

JV Girls

Emmanuel Christian 32, EFCA 16: Bayley Blackmon scored eight points and Emmanuel finished the regular season with a victory.

EFCA’s Kylie Sutton led all scorers with 12.
