Prep roundup: Johnson, Sheffield pace Houston Academy win

COTTONWOODChris Johnson had 28 points and 13 rebounds and Gabe Sheffield added 20 points, pacing Houston Academy to a 79-72 Class 2A, Area 3 win over Cottonwood.

Blake Jordan added 10 points for HA (6-8, 1-0).

Billy Lewis led Cottonwood (1-9, 0-1) with 26 points. Zayl Davis had 16 and Damarius Keys 10.

Geneva 48, Opp 39: Nihle Daniels had nine points, Tavares McIntyre eight and Scott Stough and Reid Tidwell seven for Geneva (2-11, 1-0).

Zyki Wade had 12 points and Quantavise Stoudemire 10 for Opp.

Luverne 55, Dale County 36: Deanthony Rutledge had 13 points and Quez Watkins 10 to lead Luverne.

Brizale Davis had 14 points to lead Dale County (4-9).

Ariton 53, Kinston 38: Deonte Michel had 23 points and Seth Fenn 17 to pace Ariton (7-2).

Mason Davis led Kinston (1-9) with 13 points.

Red Level 59, Zion Chapel 25: KJ Lawrence had 12 points, Dee Tolbert and Raheem Bullock had 11 points each for Red Level (11-7, 1-0).
Brantley 70, McKenzie 60: Chester Person had 17 points, seven steals, six rebounds and six assists, Jared Wiley had 15 points and Terrance Bogan had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Brantley (11-7, 1-1).

Ashford Academy 55, Northside Methodist 53: Alex Morris had 33 points and 13 rebounds to pace Ashford Academy (12-2), which also got nine points from Hunter Hawkins.

Northside Methodist got 16 points from Daniel Beauchamp, 13 from Martin Everett and 10 from Jackson Smith.

SGA 61, Abbeville Christian 50: Dustin Shiver had 16 points, five blocks and five rebounds and Chip White had 15 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks for ACA. Blake Richards added 12 points for the Generals (12-11) in the loss.

Girls

Enterprise 66, Rehobeth 25: Emily Davis had 28 points, Mary Robinson 15 and Deidra Jones and Ravon Tyson eight each to lead Enterprise (13-6).

Calen Turner led Rehobeth (5-7) with eight points.

Geneva 45, Opp 40: Kyia McNeal had 15 points and Khandi Tolbert 14 as Geneva improved to 12-3 overall and 1-0 in Class 3A, Area 3.

Saquaya Lane had 14 points to Opp (5-4, 0-1).

Houston Academy 61, Cottonwood 11: Kellie McCaffrey had 17 points and five steals and Sarah Beth Brown had 11 points and four steals to lead HA.

Ariton 38, Kinston 20: Kandis Jolly and Nicole McInerney had nine points each to lead Ariton (8-1).

Anna Rogers and Kelsey Carnley had six each for Kinston.
Zion Chapel 41, Red Level 36: Zion Chapel won its first game of the year after six losses. Brandi Hendrix had 14 points, Shelby Holley and Hannah Colvin had six points each for RLS.

Brantley 71, McKenzie 29: Amahni Upshaw had 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead Brantley (11-4, 2-0), which also got nine points each from Erica Daniels and Cori Burleson.

Abbeville Christian 43, SGA 25: Allissa Fleming had 16 points and Haylee Kirkland had 13 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and 14 rebounds to pace ACA (13-7) over Southwest Georgia Academy.

Ashford Academy 49, Northside Methodist 19: Jenna Epperson had nine points and 13 rebounds, leading a balanced Lady Falcon attack. Hannah Galle had nine points and four steals, Jordan Sanders had nine points, Caroline McClenney had six points and eight steals and Allison Galle had six points.

Madison Chilton led Northside Methodist with eight points.

JV Boys

Enterprise 45, Rehobeth 24: Vyonte Bynum had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals and Kendrick McCullough had 11 points and six rebounds to lead Enterprise.

Ladarrius Fields had eight for Rehobeth.

Opp 36, Geneva 30: Gavin Danley had eight points for Geneva.

Luverne 41, Dale County 33: Donta Hall had 21 points to lead Luverne.

Eric Crawford led Dale County with 14 points.

Ariton 40, Kinston 20: Marley McCauley had 15 points and Keith Terry 12 to lead Ariton.

A.C. Session had eight points to lead Kinston.

Junior High Girls

Northview 29, Headland 21: For Headland, Camille Hawthorne had nine points and four steals and Diamond Townsend had seven points and eight rebounds.
